The Agricultural sector has been Nigeria’s central economy over the years. Yet, its growth has been undermined by inconsistent policies and the diversion of national priorities to the oil sector. Over the past two decades, various initiatives have sought to boost productivity and promote sustainable farming. However, existing literature has highlighted persisting challenges towards the poor policy implementation. This study evaluates key Agricultural policies enacted between 2005 to 2022, using secondary data from peer-reviewed articles, government publications and reports from various international organisations . Findings reveal that while some policies have tried to foster private sector participation and try to mprove Agricultural productivity, their overall impacts on sustainable farming has been limited due to bad governance and limited engagement from stake holders. This paper concludes that achieving sustainable farming in Nigeria requires strengthened policy execution, improved transparency, coherent long-term planning, and inclusive stakeholder participation.
